Jim Wallace loved the game of hockey; he didn’t play as a child as it was too expensive for his family. As he got older, he played deck, roller and adult league, he loved being on the ice the most. His passion was even greater as our twin boys were born and they just naturally took to the sport. He started coaching house leagues and their travel teams. When the boys were in 7th grade, he totally immersed himself in West Islip Ice Hockey, coaching, and whatever else needed to be done. He loved being on the ice with all the kids and had a special bond with all the kids that stepped foot on his ice (He could’ve done without the Friday night at 10:30pm though). His proudest moment was when the team went from coming in 8th place in the regular season to beating all the top teams and winning the Suffolk County Championship.
He would be so honored that there is a scholarship in his name, as his family it makes us proud that he is remembered this way. West Islip Ice Hockey will always have a special place in our family and our hearts.
